Finally Mr Picnic proposed to my blonde bombshell friend, who shall now be referred to as Mrs Picnic.
Engagements are exciting. They are the start of something shiny and golden, before the potential angst of wedding planning, families and post-honeymoon blues can begin to creep in.
I love giving friends a little something soon after the announcement, and rather than the standard bottle of champagne, this time I created a 'his and hers' mug set (especially since she loves tea).

I think my penmanship is getting better, if only marginally. I'm not too happy with the Mrs Picnic mug, but as a gag gift, it isn't too bad. Practice makes perfect I guess.
There are so many different ideas for this project. I've been thinking about:
- New/expanding family: a daddy sized mug, mummy size tea cup and baby espresso cup.
- New pet owner: mug for the new pet owner saying 'Proud fur child parent' and ceramic bowl for the pup, with both decorated with paw prints.
- New job/graduation: 'Property of XXXX, the new kid in the office'.
- Father's/Mother's Day gifts: an easy way for junior to create a gift without the mess.
- Share house housewarming gift: no more arguing over who owns the favourite mug if it is personalised.
Making them is easy, and the possibilities are endless. You only have to visit Pinterest to see thousands of projects. Sharpie even has its own blog full of great ideas, and blog Happiness is Homemade also has 20 easy and inspiring sharpie projects to follow.
For crafty Perth people, thankfully Kmart's ceramics work brilliantly because there is a lot of trial and error until I can start writing properly.

- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- Clean your ceramics and get drawing (some ideas are above).
- Put your ceramic into the oven and 'bake' for 30-minutes.
- Turn off the oven but leave them in until thy have cooled completely. Doing this overnight is best.
- Give them a quick clean, wrap and gift away.
What an awesome idea! Love it :)
