Maybe it's the heat. Maybe it's because my dad is visiting an staying with my father-in-law, which is always trying. Maybe it's because Mini Me is out of whack due to starting daycare, teething, or because she's a baby. Maybe it's just one of those weeks.
So when it was Mini Me's nine-month birthday (nine in, nine out) I needed something and thankfully my yummy mummies group had the perfect solution.
We don't normally venture out of little area, but we'd heard good things about the Maylands Waterland, and decided now the noisy kids were back at school, we should take our babies for a splash.
It's only $4 entry for adults (tick), had plenty of shade (tick tick) and the most perfect baby pools I've seen (tick, tick, tick). The bub's could crawl or lay in the water without you having to hold them the whole time, which was a welcome change from other pools.
But it's not heated, which suited us as the icy water was a welcome relief from the melting heat. And being right next to the river made it nicer still (though I imagine Mossies could be a pain when they're out in force)/
It reminded me of the water thing at Kings Park that I use to play in, before it was probably deemed too much hassle to care for.
And it must have healing powers because stepping into the cool water seem to wash off my bad mood.
